Responding to Good News

  • What good news!
  • That's great!
  • Superb!
  • Terrific!
  • That's wonderful!
  • I'm so happy to hear that!
  • That's fantastic news!

Example:

A: Listen to this, Morocco has just signed an agreement with the MIF to build new schools in rural areas.

B: That's great! Education is the only way out of poverty and other social issues in our country.

Responding to Bad News

  • What sad news!
  • That's terrible!
  • I'm sorry to hear that.
  • What a disaster!
  • That's awful!
  • I'm so sorry to hear that.
  • That's really unfortunate.

Example:

A: Did you hear that? Many civilians got killed in war zones around the world.

B: What sad news! The international community has to do something.
